10 Best Route Software Options, Compared

The best route software depends on what your trucks do. If you only need stops in order, a planner like OptimoRoute or Route4Me will do it. If you haul waste, look at ServiceCore, Routeware or Hauler Hero. If you deliver propane or bottled water, look at Advantage Route. If your trucks collect oil, coolant or other liquids, that's what we built RouteMule for.

Here are 10 names side by side. They aren't ranked. We read each company's own website on November 6, 2026, and we make the first one, so keep that in mind as you read.

Oil, coolant and other liquid routes

1. RouteMule was built around used oil and coolant collection. Every drum and tank has its own pickup cycle, so the day's stops come up on their own. The driver enters gallons, gets a signature and finishes the receipt on their phone. Manifests, base transfers and invoices follow from the pickup. Calls, texts and voicemail are in the same program, and so are PM service, inspections and the repair log.

It won't fit everybody. If you run one-off parcel deliveries with new addresses every day, a planner will do that for less.

Stops in order and deliveries

These are the planners and delivery apps. They're quick to start, and for a courier or a small delivery team they may be all you need.

2. OptimoRoute does route planning and field service scheduling, with a driver app, live tracking, proof of delivery and text and email updates for customers. It connects to your ERP or CRM for the rest.

3. Route4Me covers route planning, dispatch and tracking, truck navigation, proof of delivery and customer notifications, and it plugs into your other business systems.

4. Onfleet is last-mile delivery software: dispatch, routing, a driver app, proof of delivery with photos and signatures, and automatic customer updates. Its Courier Suite adds a client portal and billing for companies that deliver for other businesses.

5. Circuit starts with a free driver app, then adds a platform for planning routes across several drivers, tracking them and collecting proof of delivery.

6. WorkWave Route Manager plans, optimizes and dispatches routes, with GPS and a driver app, and it's sold per vehicle.

Waste, septic and grease

This group knows the trade. Billing, containers and dispatch are built around how haulers work. We go deeper in waste and liquid hauling software, compared.

7. ServiceCore is built for portable toilet, septic, grease trap and roll-off companies. Its site lists scheduling, routing, billing, units on a map, a driver app, manifests on grease jobs and a sales tool for leads.

8. Routeware is built for waste haulers, with in-cab tablets, roll-off dispatch, billing, customer service tools and electronic driver vehicle inspections.

9. Hauler Hero puts routing, billing, payments, CRM and field work in one system for waste haulers. It lists container tracking, manifest tracking and a driver app with pre-trip inspection checklists.

Propane, water, coffee and ice

10. Advantage Route is route accounting software for delivery trades: propane, fuel, bottled water, office coffee, packaged ice and industrial gases, with a page for liquid recycling too. It lists orders and invoicing, warehouse inventory, cylinder tracking, tank monitors, a customer portal and online payments.

Three questions that sort it out

  • Do the same customers repeat? If stops come from a schedule, you want software that knows what's due.
  • Is there something to measure at the stop? Gallons, drums and tanks aren't something a planner keeps track of.
  • How many programs do you want to run? Count what you'd still need for invoices, phones and truck maintenance.
